This year we have brand new textbooks!  More information will be sent home about textbooks later. Cheating on any assignment will result in a referral to the office and a zero on the assignment.  If students are absent they are responsible for making up all missed work within one week of their return to school.  Students should consult the teacher for missing assignments.
Tests and Performance Based Assessments (PBA) are generally given at the conclusion of a unit.  Students will always be given a study guide. Quizzes are given frequently.  Students can expect an exit quiz at the end of every lesson.  We will, also, have monthly Accelerated Reader projects, DBQ projects, and other projects throughout the year.  Projects will come with an assignment sheet.

Class Expectations:
This year we will embark on a journey through American History.  We will explore battles, new inventions, and a changing America.  This class is very hands-on, however, all students must show appropriate behavior in order to participate fully.  Below is the basic code of conduct for this school year.

American History Code of Conduct
Prompt- be in your seat ready to work when the bell rings.
Prepared-  have your supplies out and phones put away.
Polite- please and thank-you are always appreciated.  We will spend 180 days together this year; let's make it a great experience for everyone!
Productive- We will over 150 years of history this school year!  Come ready to do YOUR best work!
Patient- There are more students than teachers in the room.  A teacher will work with everyone of you and that takes a little time.  Be patient- we are in this together!

Show respect for your peers, the classroom, the teacher and yourself.Remember:
                                       YOUR ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe that constant, open communication between the student, the teacher, and the home is the best way for students to succeed.  Feel free to contact me by note, by phone (780-6107), by email (esharp@rvaschools.net), or by arranging a meeting.  Please, see me or email me if you require special accommodations due to learning disabilities, religious practices, physical requirements, medical needs, or any other reasons.

I really enjoy teaching American history and I have found that seventh grade is a great year.                                                Let’s make this our best year at Albert H. Hill!
